Thongsuk sets new weightlifting record

Good news for Thailand, because their Olympic champion Pawina Thongsuk set a clean and jerk new world record yesterday on her way to the Asian Games 63kg weightlifting gold medal.

Amazingly, Pawina lifted 142kg in the clean and jerk to improve on Russian Svetlana Shimkova's record of 141kg set at Wladyslawowo, Poland earlier this year.

In fact, the Thai weightlifter eclipsed her own Asian record of 140kg and now holds all three world records in the 63kg class.

We must make clear that Pawina hoisted 110kg in the snatch for a combined 252kg.
